Mid Century Modern Living Room

I recently finished a living room for a cute young family in Katy. They wanted the style to be mid century modern, which isn't my personal style, but I had fun challenging myself for this design. This is the causal living area right off of the kitchen, and they have two young boys so it needed to be kid friendly.

The sofa, which I love, is from West Elm as well as both chairs, the floor lamp, and the rug. The coffee table and mirror are Wayfair, and the side table is from Hayneedle.

It was hard to get a good shot of the room angle wise.

The mirror is 4 feet in diameter but you would never know it form this picture.

I also loved this blue leather chair.

Eventually, they will get art for the large wall to the left of the TV. It really helped open up the room up when they took out the built in shelves that were over the TV cabinet.

The barstools were from Amazon. Look at that cutie in the back!

I loved getting to work with a style that isn't my norm. Made me think outside of my design box. :)

Kitchen Table

A few weeks ago I finished a kitchen table update for a sweet repeat client and friend. Their old table was a hand me down that had seen better days. They didn't have a hanging light fixture either which makes all the difference in a kitchen table space.

BEFORE

The brown gothic style lantern is from Shades of Light, the cute 47" table is from High Fashion Home, and the French bistro chairs are from Serena and Lily. I had been dying to use these chairs in a project, and they look so good. She already had the white bowl, and I bought a bunch of faux green apples and pears from Hobby Lobby to put inside. What an adorable place to sit and have breakfast!

A Playroom for a Princess

This playroom is for the same family as the last post I did on the entry way. They have an almost one year old baby girl and needed a place for her to play. They never used their dining room and all the furniture in there was hand me down, so they threw out the traditional home layout and asked me to make their dining room a playroom!

 AFTER

Since its right off the entry way, I wanted to make sure it was pretty spectacular since anyone that comes to the door will see it. The walls were painted repose gray. The rug is from Overstock.com. We saved a ton of money as there is one for double the price of what we paid at RH Baby. The light fixture and tent are RH baby. The clear floating shelves are ones I have used over and and over because they are from Clear Display Solutions and are $30! The banner is from Etsy and the table and chairs, gallery wall, "PLAY" letters, and the toy storage unit are Pottery Barn Kids.

I love the chalkboard detail on the front. So great for kiddos!

The little sheepskin rug is also from Overstock.

The ruler growth cart that is just adorable is from Etsy.

I just love how this playroom turned out. My daughter is friends with theirs, so I get the added bonus of playing in this adorable playroom from time to time!

New Entry Way

I just completed an Entry Way for a cute client of mine. All of the furniture in it was hand me down and she wanted to feel like it was her own. It was a bit dark in there and she wanted it to feel light and bright.

BEFORE

AFTER

Its Amazing what a coat of paint (Repose Gray - Sherwin Williams) will do. I had the chair rail painted white too. Some people like to hide it by painting it the same color as the wall, but I like to accentuate it! The rug is from Ballard Designs, the mirror, lamps, and light fixture are Shades of Light, and the table is from Layla Grayce. The Boxwoods are wholesale from Park Hill. I hate cords. I wish I would have taped the cord along the console with electrical tape before I took the picture. That is a great way to hide them.

It is so much lighter in there! The two cute prints are from HomeGoods.

Entry ways are my favorite to decorate. I love the fact that they are the first thing people see of your house. Its your home's first impression, and I like to make a good one!

A Home from Top to Bottom

Over the Summer and Fall I spent four months working on an entire home project. My clients lost most of the furniture they had to the flood we had last Spring. They had over 2 inches of water in their entire home. They moved out of the flooded house and into this house with not much of anything but a check from insurance. This house is in Spring Valley and was a blast to decorate. The paint color we used throughout is Sherwin Williams Agreeable Gray. We kept the old homeowners blue paint in the dining room and play room.

ENTRY BEFORE

ENTRY AFTER

I had gray seagrass wallpaper hung in the entry which gives it a wow factor. The mirror is from Wisteria, the console (which I love) is from Layla Grace, the lamps are from Overstock and the flowers are from OKL. The light fixture is from Shades of Light.

DINING BEFORE

DINING AFTER

They really wanted to use the table and chairs that were given to them by her father, so we just recovered the chairs. I had barn doors custom made by TBS Barn Doors since she really wanted to be able to close off the playroom if people were coming over. The chandelier is from Horchow, the candle sticks and basket on the table are from an antique dealer, and the runner is from Paisley House.

My client is very sentimental, so we hung her grandmothers china on one of the walls.

PLAYROOM BEFORE

PLAYROOM AFTER

She didn't want to spend much money on this room so most of the stuff in here they already had, I just arranged it. I did by a bunch of inexpensive frames from HomeGoods to hang the kids' art in, and I had the pillows custom made. The lamp is from RH Baby.

LIVING ROOM BEFORE

LIVING ROOM AFTER

The amazing modern rug is from Rug Mart. The sectional she found on Memorial Area Trading. The cute tufted ottoman is from Lamps Plus as are the lamps. We had the pillows custom made. The wicker trunk is from IKEA. The bench on the back wall is from an antique dealer, and the botanical prints, which she already had, are from RH Baby. I have used these on a couple of other jobs as they are beautiful and a great price. She didn't want anything on the windows to make sure it was light and bright in there.

Everything on her mantle has an emotional meaning for them. I love that! Everything on the bookshelves was either from Paisley House, MAI, or things they already had.

These chairs they already had, but had seen better days. We had them recovered and custom pillows made to match. The little round mirrored side table is Pottery Barn.

This storage piece was from her Dad. She wanted something to store China in and this was perfect. I made the flower arrangement and the painting is from an antique dealer.

MASTER BEFORE

MASTER AFTER

She wanted her bedroom to be peaceful and spa like. We wallpapered the accent wall with a seafood color seagrass. We used the headboard she already had which is perfect. The bench is from RH. The painting is from Paisley House, the lamps are from HomeGoods and the light fixture is from OKL. The bedding, which is gorgeous, is from Three Doors. The two maps above the bed are sentimental to them. I had them reframed to match at Michael's. The bedside tables are from Wisteria.

She found these two chairs on Memorial Area Trading. We just got them recovered, and had pillows made to tie in the seafoam color. The table she already had, and she painted it herself. So proud of her! And, the lamp is from Paisley House. This is an adorable sitting area and a perfect place to do Bible study or have quiet time.

NURSERY BEFORE

NURSERY AFTER

Cute room for a one year old! The rug is from RH Baby, as is the tent and light fixture. We had the chair cushions recovered, and the leather pillow is from Pottery Barn. The crib and changing table she already had. What I didn't get a picture of is the huge world map that is hanging above the changing table.

TODDLER'S ROOM BEFORE

TODDLER'S ROOM AFTER

This room for a three year old is so sweet. The bedding is from PB Kids, the lamp and rug are RH, the bed was bought on Memorial Area Trading, and the nightstand was her dad's.

I loved this project from start to finish!
