Problem & Solution: Putting a Bed in Front of a Window

The same client that I helped with the bathroom remodel had asked my opinion on where to place her bed in her bedroom since she had a low window on the wall she thought would be best to put the bed.  She was right, it is best to position the bed to face you on the longest wall as you walk into the room, but a window can pose a problem.

So, I suggested adding shutters and then a wall of curtains behind the bed with matching curtains on the tall window on the front of the house.

Here is a beautiful example picture of placing a bed in front of a window and adding the wall of curtains behind it.

Here is another example, but I much prefer extending the curtains behind the bedside tables.

Here is the pretty finished product. There were shutters on the smaller window in the room so it only made sense to add them behind the bed too. The curtains give the room a much softer and finished look. If they want the room to be really dark they can close them, or they can just leave them open all the time and shut the shutters.

We got the fabric from High Fashion Home. She wanted off white, and the tone on tone pattern helps to give them some interest.

Problem solved.
